The 4 Legs that support our Youth Ministry at Redeemer:
Relationship
We believe that our Youth Ministry will be most successful if it is built on real relationships between teenagers and adults who love God and love each other. Our Youth Ministry is not going to be like one of Mickey Mouseʼ ears – barely attached to the circle of his head. The Church is more like a supreme pizza with all the generations like ingredients, thrown together within the circle of our church family. We learn from each other.
Spiritual Formation
We acknowledge that the teen years are huge, formative years and we commit ourselves to helping young people find their identity and their purpose in the living God. Help them begin to answer the question, “What am I supposed to do with my life?” by teaching them about vocation (ʻcallingʼ isnʼt just to ministry) and the marketplace and the doctrine of work.
Discipleship
Once a teen is committed to life in Christ, it is the role of the Church Family to shepherd and nurture their faith. We will continue to challenge them to grow up in Christ and invest in them as the future leaders of the Church.
Service
Jesus told His disciples, “No, you give them something to eat” (Mtt. 14:16). We find our identity when we serve others, as well as a sense of belonging. We will not shelter and entertain our youth but challenge them to serve among us and in our community.
